Max Jamali is a designer who finds magic in every project he undertakes. For Jamali, each creation represents a unique journey filled with distinctive moments that contribute to the final masterpiece. “To be honest with you, every project I create has its own unique moments,” he shares. “Every step of bringing ideas to life for me is such a beautiful journey.”

What excites Jamali most is not just the design process but the opportunity to showcase his work at launch events. It’s here, amidst the buzz and anticipation, that he witnesses the true impact of his designs. “The most exciting part is sharing those designs during my launch events and seeing people’s expressions of them,” he adds. These moments of revelation and connection are what make his creative journey so rewarding.

My art, specially the new translucent butterfly sculptures I launched during my show at Modern Sense in Toronto and Miami Art Basel 2023, are created to extend the beauty of its surrounding. Most of my custom designs are created by incorporating existing colour pallets within the environment my artworks are going to be installed in”

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE AR ART? THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT.

Max Jamali’s venture into Augmented Reality (AR) art began during the NFT boom of 2020, driven by a desire to merge physical art with digital innovation. “During the NFT boom in 2020, I built a team to create Augmented Reality for my physical artworks, with the goal of tokenizing,” Jamali explains. This initiative was not merely about adopting new technology but about enhancing the viewer’s experience and extending the life of his creations into the digital realm.

The catalyst for this shift was the Butterfly Project, which marked a pivotal moment in his artistic journey. By integrating AR into his artworks, Jamali transformed them into interactive experiences that captivated and engaged audiences in new ways. “Since then, seeing how my clients enjoy the interactive Augmented Realities on my designs, I decided to keep them as an extension of all my artworks,” he notes. This seamless fusion of physical and digital art has allowed Jamali to offer a richer, more immersive experience, reflecting his commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional art.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUNG ARTIST COMING IN THE GAME?

Leaning the business side of art is extremely crucial. Since about seven years ago, when I launched my career an an artist, I have been constantly investing in marketing and branding courses and seminars. As an artist, I learned early on how important it is to focus on both creative and business side of my art equally.
